Joining the American Academy of Workers’ Compensation Physicians (AAWCP) is a cost-effective way to grow and sustain your Workers’ Compensation revenue. Compared to hiring a full-time marketer, managing outreach yourself, or investing in advertising, membership with AAWCP offers practical, targeted value at a fraction of the cost.

Membership Pricing

  • Physicians:  $300 a year (25% discount if more than one physician joins from a practice…thus $225 annually per physician if 2 or more join from the same practice)
  • Medical Practice Managers/Administrators: Free when at least 2 doctors from your practice join.  Otherwise, $300 a year.
  • Pharmaceutical Companies/Medical Device Companies: Call for Quote
  • Hospitals/Surgery Centers/Physical Rehabilitation Centers: Call for Quote
  • Insurance Companies/Self-Insured Entities/Municipalities: Free in Most Circumstances
  • Third Party Administrators/Case Managers/Adjusters: Free in Most Circumstances
  • Managed Care Companies:  Free.
  • Insurance Agents/Brokers: $50 a year
  • Attorneys: $50 a year

If your category is not listed above, please call for quote.

In addition, we offer a market listing service for any Physician who provides Independent Medical Exams (IMEs) or Medical File Reviews. The cost is $50 a year for each of these categories.



Finally, please note our no questions asked, full refund of current dues.  If for any reason, you decide the American Academy of Workers’ Compensation Physicians is not for you (or you feel it’s not a good return of your investment), please let us know and we will refund your current year dues.

Member Expectations

To maintain the Academy’s high standards and support strong partnerships with referral sources, members are expected to:

  • Schedule patients within 8 hours of referral

  • Aim to see patients within 20 minutes of their scheduled appointment

  • Complete and return the standard “Quick Report” the same day

  • Communicate by phone with case managers during office hours, as needed

  • Support practice staff with patient care coordination

  • Follow established referral management protocols

  • Participate in case reviews with case managers, when applicable

  • Stay current on Workers’ Compensation best practices

What Referrers Value Most

Through our ongoing conversations with insurers, TPAs, and case management firms, we've identified four key factors they prioritize when selecting Workers’ Compensation physicians:

  1. Thorough Medical History
    Complete documentation of prior related treatment sets the foundation for optimal care.

  2. Focus on the Authorized Injury
    Stick to treating only the approved injury. If other issues arise, clarify with the referrer before proceeding.

  3. Reasonable Return-to-Work Policies
    Use sound judgment and clear rationale when recommending time off. Physicians who are balanced and logical about return-to-work decisions receive more referrals.

  4. Timely, Clear Communication
    Fast scheduling, prompt “Quick Note” reports, and responsive communication are critical to securing and maintaining referrals.

In certain cases, a direct line of communication with the physician can help prevent delays in care and claims processing. Even brief phone calls can significantly improve collaboration between the physician and case manager.

Relationship Building

In-service presentations are a powerful way to build rapport and enhance trust with adjusters and case managers. These sessions allow physicians to showcase their expertise, while referrers gain comfort and confidence in the care being provided. In-services can be offered in person or virtually and are coordinated through our sister company, Princeton Select Providers.
